Our 2023-2024 Community Service Included
Serving at People’s Place
Diving into the heart of community support, our Early Thrivers work with People’s Place, a vital organization that provides food, clothing, and other essentials to those in need. By volunteering here, Early Thrivers connect with Kingston’s most vulnerable residents, gaining firsthand experience in service and empathy while contributing to the well-being of the community.
Making Meals for and Delivering to Community Fridges
Engaging deeply with grassroots initiatives, our Early Thrivers prepare and deliver nutritious meals to Kingston’s Community Fridges, which offer free food to anyone in need. This hands-on service not only addresses food insecurity but also empowers Thrivers to play an active role in sustaining local efforts that promote equity and dignity.
Feeding the Staff of the YWCA
Honoring those who tirelessly support others, our Early Thrivers prepare and serve meals to the dedicated staff of the YWCA, an organization committed to eliminating racism and empowering women in Kingston. Through this service, Thrivers gain insight into the inner workings of social justice efforts and contribute to the ongoing impact these professionals have on the community.
The Early Thriver Leadership Development Path
At the core of the Early Thriver Program is our Leadership Development Path, which guides participants through a transformative journey, from beginners to leaders who not only excel in their chosen fields but also contribute meaningfully to their communities.
Stage 1: Learner
This is the introductory stage of our Early Thrivers. Thrivers may come to us with little to no experience in the area they will be working so our program is built to teach the skills and share the knowledge required to fulfill their roles.
Stage 2: Practitioner
After a few weeks of engaging in curriculum and workshops, our Thrivers are ready to start doing the work alongside us. This is where all of the learning from Stage 1 is put into practice!
Stage 3: Specialist
Thrivers begin the next stage when they feel comfortable enough to take the reins and lead the work with us now in the background and just providing operational support and guidance as needed.
Stage 4: Steward
This is the final stage our Thrivers achieve. In Stage 4, our Thrivers are not only able to lead the projects on their own, but they are also able to train others in this work and start to expand operations.
